About this time last year, I got to indulge in two of my favorite things and photograph a cycling street art tour of Brighton using the Brighton Hire Bikes.
I love street art and graffiti and cycling is very close to my heart as I cycle every week and am super passionate about it. So getting the chance to photograph and document this tour and learn about Brighton’s art scene was a wonderful experience.
More of that please.
Brighton interior photography
Brighton interior design photography
One of the many things I love about photography is that no two shoot are the same and there really is a wide variety of subjects to photograph. Each shoot is a challenge and there is a pleasure in learning something new every time.
I may be known for my professional people photography and portraits, head shots, company profile etc. and my commercial work, but I love taking interior and architectural photography projects on as well.
This was a commission for a Brighton building and design company who wanted me to document some recent work for them.
Brighton Gin Distillery Commercial Photography
Brighton Business Photography - Brighton Gin Distillery
I was very fortunate to be able to spend a wonderful afternoon at the Brighton Gin distillery, taking photos of the who process of making Gin.
I really learnt a lot and loved every minute of it. It’s given me a greater love for Brighton Gin and the lovely people who run the business.
The thing that I was most surprised and impressed by, was the list for the staff’s tea and coffee. I loved the way that everyone was so precise about the length of time the tea bag should stay in the cup for. The exact measurements of coffee and sugar for everyones brew. I’m also sure that I saw a paint sample chart for how milky certain people like their tea. This I really respect.
Relaxed and informal company profile head shots
There are lots of different ways to capture staff at a company for the About Us page and recently i’ve been working on getting something a bit more informal than a studio set up with a backdrop or a plain wall in the background.
I’ve found that the key to getting good informal photos is to make sure that people are relaxed and having fun in front of the camera and that comes from experience of shooting businesses and people.
So here are some relaxed and informal headshots / profiles from a recent shoot at a law firm and I think they work really well in saying that the company and staff are approachable, relaxed and friendly.
Management Team Company Head Shots
There is something very rewarding about taking company head shots / corporate profile / professional portraits of board members and management teams.
I just love when people don’t have much time and the come into the meeting room which I’ve set my studio up in and I guarantee that the first thing that at least 50% of the people will say to me is: ‘Oh I hate having my photo taken.’ or ‘I’m really not photogenic and have never seen a good photo of me.’
I always see this as a challenge and a wrong to be put right. So I make it my mission to make them look good and for the last thing that they say to me to be: ‘Oh I don’t look bad in that. I really like it and that wasn’t painful at all.’
I really do believe that everyone is photogenic. You just need a good photographer to capture the real you. And this is why it really is worth investing in company head shots / corporate profile / professional portraits for your business.
Photographing Brighton Table Tennis Club
Documentary photography of Brighton Table Tennis Club
I love being asked to go into a space and document or capture what businesses or people do there. I'm free to just observe and take photos of how I see the place and it makes me look at the people and the details with a much more critical photographic eye.
So this time I was asked to take photos of the wonderful Brighton Table Tennis Club in Kemp Town, Brighton for a magazine article. I must have been past this place hundereds of times and not realised what goes on inside. It's just an amazing place and if you have any interest in Table Tennis what so ever, you really shout check it out.
Brighton Festival Event Photography
It's Brighton Festival time again. That great time of year when the city goes all crazy and there is all kinds of creativity going on.
Last year I was very fortunate to be asked to photograph the opening event / private view of a special Virtual Reality art exhibition / film experience at the Lighthouse in Brighton.
It was my first experience of virtual reality and it was really interesting to see where the technology is going. Not to mention being in a room full of people in Brighton but all of us were transported to the Australian outback.
So if you're doing something for this years Brighton Festival make sure you enjoy it and go and have fun.
